The aim of today's lesson is for you to apply what you have learnt from your research on portraits & lighting by taking your own set of photographs exploring that theme.

Lesson 2
Task 1: a) Upload your photographs underneath each of the types of lighting you have researched with the title 'My Own Examples Using (name of type of lighting)' So for each type of lighting you should have: 1. Title (type of lighting) 2. Sentence explaining how that type of lighting is achieved 3. Found examples of the lighting type 4. Your own examples using the type of lighting
Task 2: Green (grade 1/2) Open your favourite photo in Affinity and edit to subtly enhance your image. If you have forgotten how to do this, go back to our previous lessons and rewatch the tutorials. You might like to try the following: - Desaturate your colours (make it black and white) - Enhance brightness and contrast - Enhance lighting and shadows (eg. curves or filters: render - lighting.)
Amber (grade 3/4) Edit two of your favourite photos from your shoot.
Red (grades 5+) Edit three of your favourite photos from your shoot.
Task 4: Export your edited photos as JPEGs then upload as images underneath all of your research with the title 'Editing Portraits & Lighting Photos' so that the photos are large and show off the changes you have made.
Task 5: Write a short paragraph to review your photo shoot and edited photos. Put this underneath your large edited photos. Discuss the following:
- What are the strengths of your edited photos and why? - How could you develop these photos in a new and original way? To develop them, you would take an aspect of the style you have used and then make changes to make your photographs even more successful.
Extension task: Carry out whatever improvements/ developments you have mentioned in your annotations of your shoot/edits. It might involve a new photo shoot or it might be a different edit.
