As you are aware, the theme of your current project is 'horror'. For your first homework, I would like you to take a set of photographs which you think link to this theme in some way.
How you link your photographs to the theme is completely up to you. Your ideas do not have to be linked to any specific photographers, this is your 'initial response' (the ideas that first come into your mind) when you think of the theme of 'horror'. You might like to try out one of the ideas on your mind map, or be inspired by an image from your mood board.
Carefully consider: - The location of your shoot - The costumes your models wear (if applicable) - The lighting you use - The story you are telling with your images - The composition of your images
Green (grade 1-3) a) Take at least 8 photos inspired by your chosen theme ensure that your photos are in focus. b) Add a title underneath your mind map of 'Initial response to the theme of horror'. c) Create a new folder in your Google Drive with the title 'Horror - initial response' and upload your photos to that folder. d) Upload your photographs to your site to create a contact sheet (remember - your photographs should be in rows of four) e) Screenshot your contact sheet f) Delete your photos and upload your screenshot where they were g) Choose your best two photographs and display them side by side underneath your contact sheet so that they are large and show off your best work. Amber (grade 4/5) Green + a) Take 12 photos inspired by the theme of horror. Ensure that you have used camera settings appropriately. - Think about lighting, (time of day if using natural lighting) angles, the overall composition of your images, your choice of model, costume, props and background. g) Choose your best two photographs and crop them to improve the image then display and place them side by side underneath your contact sheet so that they are large and show off your best work.
Red (grades 6+) Amber + a) Take 16+ photographs but remember - quality over quantity! - Try to vary the angles from which you take your photographs, how close you are to your subject, which parts of the scene you are zooming in on etc. in each of your photos. g) crop and edit two of your best photographs then display and place them side by side underneath your contact sheet so that they are large and show off your best work.
