Red (grades 5+) a) Choose your favourite photograph(s) from your shoot. - If you think that you can improve upon the photographs you have taken previously you can plan and take a new set of photos for your character poster if you would like (taking more than one set of photographs for a task such as this will always gain you extra marks for refinement). - Remember to upload your new set of photographs underneath the title '(name of your film) Character Poster Shoot 2 Contact Sheet' b) Edit your photo(s) using Affinity to create the main image for your poster. - Remember to make basic adjustment edits such as cropping, exposure, saturation, contrast, adding a filter etc. - You might also like to use other editing techniques such as: Removing and replacing the background; double exposure; selective colour changing; any other techniques which you feel confident with or any new techniques which you can find a tutorial for online. Task 2: Export your final image from Affinity as a jpeg and upload it to your site underneath the title '(name of your film) Character Poster Main Image Edit'.
Task 3: Using either Affinity or the programme Canva, add typography to your main image to create your teaser poster. Remember to think back to the posters you have created in this project so far: - What mistakes did you make that you would like to improve on? - What was successful and therefore you would like to keep? - Which typography/layout was the most successful? It this appropriate for a teaser poster?
Remember that to be successful when creating your character poster you need to include the relevant elements: - An eye-catching and creative main image which shows one main character from the movie - Include the name of the actor/character - A tagline, either for the movie as a whole or for the character - The date the movie is released
Task 4: Export your edited poster from Canva/Affinity as a jpeg then upload it to your site underneath the title of 'Final Character Poster for (name of your film)'.
Task 5: Green (grade 1/2) Write a short paragraph to review your final character poster. Discuss the following: - What did you do to edit your photos? - Did you create a mood/atmosphere through the edits you completed? How and why? - What are the strengths of your final teaser poster and why? - How could you make improvements?
Amber (grade 3/4) Write a short paragraph to review your photo shoot and edited photos. Put this underneath your large edited photo. Discuss the following: - What is the idea behind your character poster and how does it bring together the best parts of your project? - What techniques have you experimented with to help you develop your ideas for the project? - How did you create your character poster? - Did you create a mood/atmosphere through the edits you completed? How and why? - What are the strengths of your edits and why?
Red (grades 5+) Answer the questions on the help sheet in full sentences to create your evaluation. You may not be able to answer all of these questions because this is a film poster project, but try to answer as many as you can.
