Focus lock on your phone:
On most phone cameras you can also use Focus Lock to lock the focus on whichever subject you select – even if you move your camera around. This is really useful because sometimes when you move your camera it automatically changes the focus to whatever is in the centre of the frame and you end up having to take your photo again. By using focus lock, you can move around and take lots of photos from different angles without worrying about constantly refocusing your camera. To do this, just press and hold on whatever you would like to be in focus until the square around it says AE/AF lock. |
Focus Lock on a DLSR:
1. Focus on your subject by placing it in the middle of your frame. 2. Hold down the shutter button halfway to ‘lock’ the camera on your subject. 3. You can now move your camera around and change where your subject is in the frame to ensure perfect composition with your subject still in focus (this is especially useful when Framing your subject or using the Rule of Thirds). Watch the video to see it in action on a DSLR camera. |

Amber (grade 4-5) and Red (grades 6+):
Visit the following website to learn more about the difference between manual focus and auto focus, and when it’s appropriate to use each of them. |
Task 1: Upload your photographs onto your Mac: a) Place your SD card into the SD holder on the computer base b) On your desktop, find the SD card and double click to open the folders inside. c) Double click on DCIM d) Double click 100 Canon e) Open a new 'finder window' by going to the bottom of your screen and right clicking on the 'finder' icon. f) Create a 'Yr 9 Photography' folder in your documents. g) Drag your photos from your SD card to your documents (DO NOT drag them straight from the SD card to your site because you won't have access to the images in high quality again. Make sure you save them in a folder in your documents and not your Desktop/downloads folder as they may get wiped from your computer). |
