The process of mind mapping can help us to begin generating ideas for how we might like to respond to a brief.
It can also be a really useful tool later on in a project, especially if you are struggling to come up with ideas. Because you should include all of you initial thoughts and ideas, as well as synonyms for the key words in the project brief and artists who you might like to research, if you are ever stuck with where to go next in a project, you should be able to look at your mind map and immediately find inspiration. Mind maps can take a variety of different forms, from detailed and meticulous to simple and basic - it really depends on how useful you want them to be later on. |

Task 1:
Watch the video of a mind map being created on the theme of 'surroundings' to see how the ideas which are included in a mind map can be generated. Remember, this is an example from Art, not Photography, and if you should like to create your work digitally so that it can be uploaded straight onto your website that is fine. |
Task 2:
Create a mind map/wordle for this project. You may like to include notes on the following: - A definition of 'human figure' - Words that come to mind when you think about the human figure - Quotes you find about 'human figure' - Different parts of the body you could photograph (will you focus on the face or the entire body?) - Adjectives to describe humans and the human figure - Any social issues you care about which relate to the human figure - The names of the photographers you discovered whilst creating your mood board - Notes about their work (what subjects do they use? How do they create their photographs? Words to describe how their work looks?) - Any ideas you might already have for your own photography |
